🗺️ 1. Draw it

A new student joins your class on Tuesday morning. Nobody has time to walk her round the school. All she gets is a map, and the map is the one you are about to draw.

Paper and pen. From memory. No phone, no looking anything up. It does not need to be beautiful and it does not need to be to scale.

✍️ Draw the map. Draw the school as a new student needs it on an ordinary Tuesday: where she arrives, where she has to get to, and how she moves between those places.

✍️ Then write here, in one sentence: what is the one thing your map absolutely has to get right?

🕳️ 2. What is not on it

✍️ Write here, on your own.

  1. Name three things that really exist at this school and are not on your map.

  2. Take one of them. Did you decide to leave it out, or did it simply never occur to you? Be honest about which.

👥 Now look at the map drawn by the person next to you. Find one thing on theirs that is missing from yours.

✍️ Write here: what did they put in that you did not, and what does that tell you about the difference between the two of you?

🛰️ 3. A more accurate map

Here are two more maps of the same buildings. Both are more accurate than yours. Neither was made by you, and neither was made for the student arriving on Tuesday.
